IDC Nomeia Barracuda Networks como Worldwide Volume Leader Barracuda.

Barracuda Networks is pleased to announce that IDC has named Barracuda Networks the unit volume leader in the content security appliance market, capturing 13 percent of the overall units sold worldwide.

In a recent corporate profile (Barracuda Sinks Its Teeth In; excerpt from IDC # 215333, December 2008), IDC reports that Barracuda Networks has nearly double the market share of competitors "in a market that saw 144,686 units" sold in 2007. Further, IDC reports that the worldwide market for secure content and threat management solutions, which span messaging, Web, endpoint and network security, reached $13.9 billion in 2007 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 10% through 2012.

The profile highlights a number of factors that have helped Barracuda Networks to capture the largest content security appliance market share including:

Market disruptive product pricing: "While most companies with enterprise class appliances built their business on larger deals, Barracuda (Networks) entered the market with a product that is priced a fraction of that of other vendors. This has upset the calculations of competitors in the content security market." Powerful technology: "Barracuda Networks has established itself by leveraging a combination of proprietary technology and open source software for its product development, while expanding its market reach with its channel and pricing strategies." Strong sales strategy: "(Barracuda Networks) sells purely through the channel and supports its partners through its services organization that includes training, certification, and professional services for partners that do not provide their own." The complete profile is located on the Barracuda Networks Web site and can be downloaded for free, here.
